PREVIEW: Buis looks to build on his home double as Garcia, Fernandez and the rest of the grid look to strike back at Most
Buckle up as WorldSSP300 action is set to return May 16-18 at Most for the upcoming Motul Czech Round
FIM Supersport 300 World Championship action is back and raring to take to the track at the weekend. After a short hiatus, WorldSSSP300 returns for more high-octane racing action at Autodrom Most for the Motul Czech Round. Last time out, it was the Jeffrey Buis (Freudenberg KTM-Paligo Racing) show as he put on a masterclass for the home crowd at Assen with a double. The other riders such as Julio Garcia (Prodina Kawasaki Italika Racing) and Benat Fernandez (Team #109 Retro Traffic Kove) look to cut his momentum and eat into Buis’s championship lead.
BUIS HOT OFF ASSEN DOUBLE: Buis played the home hero at Assen and will now look to keep the ball rolling at Most
Following on from playing hometown hero at Assen, winning both races, Buis sits top of the Riders’ Championship standings, the Dutch rider looking to build on his lead at Most. Buis has won three of the Championship’s four races so far this season, so keeping that pace at Most would allow him to further insulate his position at the top. The #6 is the only rider on the 2025 grid to have won at Most previously. 14 points behind Buis, Garcia sits a point above Benat Fernandez. Garcia has excelled in his consistency this season, only missing the podium once, in the most recent Assen Race 2 in which he was in the podium battle before falling down to P11 on the final lap. A single point behind, while Fernandez has not been as podium consistent as Garcia, he has managed a race win this season. Most will prove a good chance for the rookie to take advantage of the level playing field through the lack of experience at the track for all the grid’s riders, and he heads to the Czech Republic on the back of a race win in the Red Bull MotoGP™ Rookies Cup at Le Mans.
SLIM MARGINS: Only five points separate P4 from P7
David Salvador (Team ProDina XCI) will ride into Most at the head of a group of three riders separated by just four points. Salvador earned his first podium at Assen’s Race 2, this upcoming round would be an ideal opportunity for the #38 to close the gap between the top three or risk seeing that gap widen. A point behind him, Australian Carter Thompson (MTM Kawasaki) will hope to earn his first podium of the season, his trio of P6 finishes have set him up well at this early juncture of the season, but he will look to get points back on the riders ahead of him after narrowly missing the podium at Assen. Humberto Maier (Yamaha AD78 FIMLA by MS Racing) earned his first podium of 2025 at Assen’s Race 1. One point behind the Brazilian, Antonio Torres (Team ProDina XCI) enjoyed a breakout start to his first full WorldSSP300 season, earning back-to-back podiums in Portimao. At Assen, he had a tougher time, a Race 1 retirement and Race 2 P9 will leave the Andalucian rider hoping for better at Most.
BREAKOUT FOR MOGEDA? The Catalan earned his first podium of 2025 at Assen
Currently sitting in eighth, Matteo Vannucci (PATA AG Motorsport Italia WorldSSP300) will look to Most to take a further step forward and break into the top 6 positions for the first time this season. Five points behind him, Daniel Mogeda (Pons Motosport Italika Racing) is hot off of earning his first podium of the season, a hot start for the Spaniard after missing the opening round at Portimao. A subsequent five points down the order, Indonesia’s Felix Mulya (ProGP NitiRacing) enjoyed a more positive Dutch Round than his placements may have seemed, his P18 in Race 2 hurt him in the Championship points tally, however for the rookie there are many positives to take away from the Race. Despite finishing out of the points, he showed pedigree in working up from P12 to P5 before running off the track, dashing his podium dreams.
WILDCARDS AT MOST: Daniel Turecek returns on home soil
Austrian Jakob Rosenthaler is riding for the injured Phillip Tonn (Freudenberg KTM-Paligo Racing) as a replacement, with Rosenthaler coming straight from Moto3™ at Le Mans. Daniel Turecek (Rohac & Fetja Motoracing Team) is riding as a wildcard on the Kawasaki Ninja 400. Faerozi Toreqottullah (ProGP NitiRacing), Gonzalo Sanchez (ARCO MotoR University Team) and Unai Calatayud (ARCO MotoR University Team) all await the all-clear from the medical centre where they will undergo diagnostics before the race weekend.
